I was so relieved that Kendra was able to return to Fablehaven so quickly. I thought it would be toward the end of the book. Awesome knapsack! I would love one! I wonder who gave Kendra the Knapsack? Do you think they could be trusted? Or is there a different agenda in mind… I am a little worried about Seth’s new abilities. I think it is going to really test his morals considering that dark creatures will be more drawn o him and he can communicate and charm them more easily. I find it really interesting that he is an “ally of the night” and Kendra is an “ally of the light” and that their personalities are the complete opposite. It will be interesting to see how things turn out…However, I don’t think Seth will become evil or turn against the light but that he may have some struggles. Poor kid, but I’m sure he will have fun with his new abilities, especially since it has proven to be quite handy in stealing the horn. However, I really worry about Seth stealing the horn. Vanessa had warned Kendra that the Sphinx may be depending upon their actions/reactions to help him get all of the artifacts. Is the Sphinx hoping that they will steal/take the horn and find the key to the artifact for him? When he looked into the oculus did he realize that there were two Kendra’s and that he had the false one, and thus said that he knew where the key and artifact was (which he learned from the oculus) and that he was going to send Navarog in the hopes that the Kendra Stingbulb will pass the information to the real Kendra and her family and friends so that they will get the first unicorn horn (the only one that they are aware of) and get the artifact? I think they are playing into the Sphinx’s plans…
This is a bit unrelated to these chapters, but why do you never see Navarog's face? Why does he wear a mask when he enters the room when Mr. Lich brings in the Oculus(page 93)? And why did he have a mask/covering over his face when he left the Quiet Box? Why would the Sphinx want it hidden? Would the face be familiar? If the demon prince is so powerful, why is he working under the orders of the Sphinx? Why doesn't he take control? Is it possible that the hidden face is the Sphinx's? Are they somehow connected? Why is his face hidden??????
Oo I hadn't thought of that Emily! Why is he always hidden...If he's the dragon prince/ demon prince why does he need a key? Wouldn't he be able to just walk in? I thought Seth was so smart using Navarog's when with Troll! I could just imagine what it looked like when the Troll was covering its mouth while laughing!! I want a knapsack too!!! The rainstick would be kind of neat too, I can't help but wonder what else it would do. It's so intriguing to think about Kendra being light and Seth being dark. I can't wait to learn more, to read more...
This book is sure intense. I am amazed at the courage of both Kendra and Seth. I was impressed that Kendra checked with both Cody and Haden and invited them to escape with her even though it would alert the house that something was up. I was really relieved that Haden was left behind by the Sphinx and rescued by the Knights. I wonder if we well see more of them.
If I was there I would probably not trust Vanessa at all but reading the story I want to. They say leopards don’t change their spots so we will see. I am so curious as to what her BIG secret is. Any ideas? She is very smart though so who knows what she is up to. I was also surprised that she said that she didn’t have anything to do about Kendra’s escape but was just able to find out about it. Who is working against the Sphinx in his own camp and why? I wonder if it is Mr. Lich. She said that Torina was a minor player and besides she like the Sphinx. Vanessa was curious as to who was behind the mask so it must not have been him, so it has to be Mr. Linch. Right? Emily, I was so dumb. I am sure they ment for us to realize that the man in the mask was the one from the quiet box but I didn't put two and two together until you said so. I feel so dumb. Evil likes secrecy so it go it seems logical that we don't get to know what he looks like. I wonder if he a power behind Sphinx. They have both been aroud for a long time. ???????? You all are right when you said Seth was the adventurer. However I think he is getting smarter. He did think about what he was doing before he took off. I was surprised that he had the wisdom to say he was Navarog. It will be interesting to see how that plays out. I am sure his powers are going to come in helpful and found it interesting that Graulas told him that they were not evil but of the night and it would be up to him as to how he used them. I feel sorry for him though. Can you imagine how awful it would be to be able to hear evil people talking around you. That would be so unsettling. I would much prefer the powers of light. Seth should handle them find though if he is cautious.
Do you all trust Graulas. I again am naïve because I think he is just looking for entertainment and wants to see what Seth will do. I hope Seth thinks to remind Grandpa that he needs to be careful about where he does his talking. If Graulas could hear what they were saying, who else.
One more thing-----I like the way Hugo is developing. He sure loves Seth. I liked the way he threatened Nero. Mendigo and Hugo are not important characters in the book but they have become important to me. I'd like both of them around.
Wow, this book has been exciting. I am so shocked that Seth was able to do all that he did. He did a great job, but he was certainly crazy to do that on his own.
Like Rosena, I also have fallen in love with Hugo. I think it is so neat to see his personality develop and his love for Seth.
Like Emily, I have also been worrying that they are doing the Sphinx's dirty work by getting the unicorn horn. I wonder if he will let them go to the trouble of getting the next artifact and show up just in time to steal it from them.
I am afraid that the person behind the mask (Navarog) is going to be someone we know. I will be so upset if it ends up being Gavin.
I also think it might be possible that the Sphinx is working for Navarog. We still don't know who the Sphinx is exactly though. It is possible that he could even be a more powerful person or creature.
I worry for Seth because of his powers as a shade-waker. I think he will struggle learning to fight the evil that will try to lure him, but will prevail by learning self-control.
There is the artifact that the Sphinx got from Fablehaven, the time travel one that was originally from the Lost Mesa, the vision one from Basil, the one they are trying to gather from Australia, and what about the last one? Where is that one? I was expecting that they would have learned about it in the room in the dungeon.
Didn't Patton say that he didn't know where the last secret sactury was but he would let Kendra know in the secret journal if he learned anything. I think we will still hear from him. Coulter is working on the time travel gaget too. Maybe we will have Patten back. I hope so. I liked him.
This series is so fun!!! I finally caught up with the rest of you.
I think Seth's new abilities will end up helping them a lot. It definitly gives them an advantage in a lot of ways. I think that only someone like Seth could handle having them. It would be to much darkness for most people to have. I would definitly be really nervous getting help from Graulas, not quite sure what his intentions really are. For being somthing that was so evil it seems hard to believe that he doesn't have evil intentions continuously running through him.
I'm really curious about who gave Kendra the knapsack. Maybe the Sphinx is actually a double agent working against himself? I can't think of anyone at the mansion that could possible have done it. It has to be someone with access to sting bulbs.
I'm also curious to see what the reactions of Grandpa and Grandma are now that Seth went and visited Graulas and went to Grunhold by himself. Once again putting himself in danger but also succeding. Hopfully it's not going to cause a horrible issue with the Centaurs. Hopefully they won't know who it was?!?!?
Is it possible that the one who helped Kendra escape was the one hidden under the mask?? Is it possible that the one under the mask is posing as Naragog? We have already been fooled once before with masks hiding identities...did someone do a switch-a-roo after Naragog left Fablehaven? We know that the one in the quite box was Naragog because Graulas confirmed it as so...Is it possible that Patten did a switch? Did he find the object that can give immortality? It may be pretty stretchy, but you never know...
Emily you have me completely confused. Do you mean that the one in the mask was not Navarog but wanted us to believe he was. Did someone do a switch-a-roo with who. Are you saying patten is really evil? What are you saying. I am confused.
I finally finished. I'm loving this book so far. I'm so glad that Kendra escaped the crazy lady's house! Phew! Very curious who helped her. I think it might be Navarog or the Sphinx. Was it a good guy, or was it the Sphinx letting Kendra go home so they can set them up at fablehaven to get the artifact for the society? I can't wait to find out! The knapsack was totally cool, by the way. Also loved Kendra's two friends - Cody and Haden. The whole thing with Seth is pretty fascinating and scary all at the same time. He was really brave to go see Graulas. But then again, what is new? He doesn't seem to struggle with bravery much. I think that makes him perfect to be a shadow charmer. It makes sense to have someone who can work on the "light" side and someone who can work on the "dark" side. There is both sides to deal with and it only makes things more complete to be able to deal with both sides. Kendra and Seth will make a good team someday. They will need each other! I know Seth is good - he won't become evil - he may always be curious though! I'm so glad he was able to get the unicorn horn safely too! YAY! I'm like Andrea - loved how the troll was cracking up about the "joke" with the banana. Like everyone else, I agree Seth was really smart to mention he was Navarog. I can't wait to see what will happen next! Hopefully I will finish the next set of chapters a bit faster!
