I thought it was so funny to discover that it was Patton that had already taken the relic. So he really did slay a dragon! However, I still felt bad for everyone, especially those who had died for nothing. I wasn’t very attached to Tammy, but I felt really bad about Neil. Poor guy and poor Warren. I really like Gavin. I wasn’t too sure about him at first, but he has grown on me. I am sure we will see much more of him, especially considering that the prison of the Quiet Box is the Prince of the Dragons. I completely trust the demon that Seth talked to too. I don’t know what his true motives are, but I think he is telling the truth. I was wondering if the revenant that Seth killed had anything to deal with why he can see the shadows of Tanu and Coulter…I was excited to see that I was right! I am curious what else he can see that the others can not? I was hoping that Lena would come out of the water, but I think she will eventually. At least she gave them some vital information about the relic. I wonder how Patton’s Uncle died? Why would he keep it such a secret? What happen to his Aunt? What exactly guards the old mansion? Hmmm…. I was wondering about the Brownies eventually turning bad. I was surprised that they didn’t just go ahead and band them from the house for security reasons. Lana and I had this discussion before, but I think that the previous prisoner of the quiet box is acting as the captain of the Knights of the Dawn, the Sphinx having had put him there to replace himself. The Sanctuaries are in serious trouble… I wonder how they are going to save Fablehaven from the plague. I wonder if the relic that was hidden by Patton can restore everyone since the relics have great power. One of the missing relics is supposed to grant power over time…maybe they can reverse what has happened?
Boy, this has been a page turner. It has been intense as the author takes you back and forth from the Mesa to Fablehaven. I was also sad that Neil died. I can't imagine trying to get through all those floating balls of poisonous gas and jumping column to column when they are so far away and not very big in diameter. I think that it was funny that Javier took off with the fake relic—It was good thinking on Dougan's part. It makes me a bit nervous that Warren and Kendra talked to Dougan about their fears about The Sphinx. It would be good for a Lieutenant to be aware of what is going on and to keep a watch out, but I worry and hope they are right about Dougan being trustworthy.
I really like Gavin too. He seems to admire Kendra. He probably finds comfort in knowing another KID who has special abilities like him. I think Mom and Emily are probably right about Gavin's mom being a mystical creature. I would even venture to say that she was a Dragon. Remember how Graulas said that Navarog (the guy from the Quiet box) was a dragon in human form and that many dragons can turn to human form. Well I think that maybe Gavin's mom was a dragon in human form. If anyone was to be married to a Dragon, then I would certainly think it would be Gavin's father, the famous Dragon tamer. Gravin is supper strong (even with his young slender body), he SPEAKS dragon, and he can even smell the difference between a female and male dragon. I think he has got to be part dragon.
Who knows, Gavin could even be a dragon in human form. Either way it is no wonder he is so straightforward and fearless. Another thing that points toward the idea that Gavin is at least part Dragon is that he was so offended to see the Dragon skeleton at the museum.
Wow, you two are really on the ball. I was just checking to see if Em had posted the next week. I am so enjoying this series. It was a little frustrating to go from one place to another. You would just get it going and then have to go back to see what was happening at the other place. Must give us a little feel of what it would be for them. Very much involved in what you are involved in and yet worrying about what is happening to the others. Talk about stress. I like the way he writes. I enjoy how he remembers to put the human factor in such as Tanu and Seth playing checkers, Seth and Warren enjoying sending the hobby horse down the stairs. You get so caught up in the stress that is good to be reminded that they are not supper heroes but ordinary people trying to do extraordinary things. I like the personalities. With the way I hate heights I would never have survived the Mesa. I was relieved to hear that Patton had taken the relic. I was so worried about it being taken from them. Even more reason for Fablehaven to be saved. You are right that it was sad that so many lost their lives trying to get it but maybe even more would have died if they had to have fought the guards to get the relic. Since the Society of the Evening Star can’t activate relics yet do you think it will take them a while to figure out that the one they stole is a fake? I think that would be funny if they thought they had them all and didn’t . I too think they can trust what Graulus told Seth. He may have another motive but I don’t think so. I like how Coulter signaled for Seth to keep the window closed when the Brownies were doing their thing. I think it indicated even more that they could trust him. I think he was on the roof to be sure Seth stayed safe and wasn’t tempted to open the window again. I am glad Seth has a power now too. Any of the powers they seem to have really come in handy and I am sure his will too. It also makes him feel more a part of what is going on and important to the cause. I thought that Gavin’s mother must have been mythical but didn’t think of a dragon. Very good thinking Lana. I think you are right! That would definitely explain his strength. The described him as thin and a few inches taller than Kendra. He would have to be very strong to carry Neil across the rocks and keep his balance. That would be hard to do without a load. I am anxious to learn more about him.
I have enjoyed this book very much. Reading about Gavin was so very interesting, I very much under-estimated him! I'm eager to see more of him. I was so sad to see the death of Tammy. I want to know more about the ceremony that they interrupted, the creatures were so very interesting! I'm sorry Neil died, I wanted to know more about him!
I'm with the rest of you, I think I trust that demon that Seth spoke to. I think that the demon has nothing to lose by giving away the information as it's stuck in the home anyway. I hope that they can find out what's happening!
I think Gavin's mother must be something mythical as well, but I hadn't considered an actual dragon. That would make perfect sense though!
