  1. I really enjoyed this book. The last chapters were so gripping, that I couldn't put it down! I would hate to Kedra. When she was running away, I had no clue what she could do to resolve the situation. I thought some reinforcements were going to arrive at the house when she returned...I didn't even think about the Fairy Queen. In fact, I didn't think that the Fairy Queen would be willing to help Kendra, especially if that ment helping her brother Seth. The Fairies have all demonstrated selfishness and vanity, but do you think the Fairy Queen is the same? Why do you think the Fairy Queen helped Kendra? For the preserve or was she touched by Kendra's sincerity and emotions?

What do you think happended to Kendra when all of the Fairies kissed her? Why do you think she can see all of the magical creatures without milk? I wonder if the fairies did something to her, thinking it was good...like what they thought when they turned Lena back into a Naiad?

  2. I really enjoyed this book. Did you guys see the readers guide at the end of the book. I think it is great that they have some thought provoking questions like that.

I am so proud of Kendra. She has always been toughtful, and really thinks things through, but she is always afraid to act. I was so proud of how brave she was. When Kendra ran off, she tried to figure out what she should do but felt pressured to think fast. I felt sick and felt my adrenaline running as if I was Kendra. It brought back the feelings I experienced when I let out the buffalo and was alone to deal with it. If only I had fairies to help me! I bet dad would have appretiated faries too!

I think that the Fairy Queen helped her becuase of her innocence and sencerity. It really payed off for Kendra to not have caused any mischief. I liked how Kendra said that although she could only hear the Fairy Queen in her mind, she knew it was very real. She also knew she should trust what she felt and thought when the Fairy Queen told her what to do, rather that rethink things or doubt herself. I feel that this is very realistic. How many times do we feel like we need to do something, make a choise to do so, feel really good about it, and then latter we rethink it and begin to doubt oursleves. It is always best to trust you instincts.

I'm with Emily--I think there is going to be more changes to Kendra than just seeing the magical creatures. All of the Fairys seem to be really friendly to Kendra now, but I wonder if part of it is that they are curious to see the changes that will be taken place soon. Do they know somthing is coming? Only magical creatures can see eachother without the milk. Maybe she will turn into a fairy!?!

Like Kendra, I would also be bummed to go home. After all that excitement, ordiany life would seem really dull.

I feel bad for Lena. I really liked her. I think Lena will come back into the story in the other books even if she doesn't become human again.

They didn't say much about Seth at the end of the book. I hope we get to see Seth do some growing in the next book.

  3. I agree that Seth and Kendra are being put to the test. I also was thinking along the lines that they should rule together. Seth has alot of growing up to do. Seth seems to be courageous, but foolhearted ( if thats even a word). Kendra has the commensense that Seth is lacking, so I agree that Seth has some growing up to do before he could take on the responsibility. Maybe he should go on a mission. That seems to help with the growing up process for most. I am not done with the book, but I am going to hit it hard the next couple of days.

  4. I really liked the last chapters and once started had to read to the end. I was so happy that the poor fairy was rescued from being an imp. I felt so sorry for her. I was also intrigued with the fact that Seth was put in a bottle just like hers. I am sure she was the imp that imprisoned him and yet it was her that released him. They don't have feelings for humans but did have resentments and yet she performed an act of kindness. What do you all make of this?
I can not imagine how hard it would have been for Kendra to flee leaving those she loved behind. I liked how she assessed her feelings and motives in doing so. It makes you wonder what you would do. Would you have the courage to go back? I was really impressed with her determination and her efforts to get the creatures to help her (the boarthouse key). What a wonderful act of sacrifice to go to the island knowing that in all probablility she would die but hoping to save the others. I think it worked because of her tears. They were tears shed not because she was scared but because she realized how much she loved the others including Seth.
The fairy queen must have powers over more that the fairies if she was able to get the Naiad to bring back the boat for Kendra.
Kendra definitely was effected by the fairies when they kissed her and turned back to their former size but I wonder if the change in her comes more from tasting the milk mixture which included the tears of the Fairy Queen (which must be rare since they are so vain and selfish) and the blood from the special cow. When she tasted it I was expecting something special to happen to her then. It sounded like a powerful concotion to me. If the changed happened then she would not know it until she had slept the night. Maybe she felt faint after the Fairies kissed her because they were talking something out of her to change back. Again maybe she was already special. What think ye.
I felt sorry for Lena but expect her to change back. It will just take her a little time to accomplish it. They said that the Naiad can change if they choose to. I think she will eventually remember and choose to again. I wish she lived near me.
I think Seth has already began to mature. He was the one arguing not to undo the last knot on the witch. It was good to hear him think first. I am sure he will still cause problems but he has started to mature in my estimation.
I hope I am not writing too much but I also like it when they were talking about blame and Grandma made two great comments. One was that even the wisest make mistake. We all will. She also said that they should work at fixing the problem instead of the blame. How often do we spend too much time pointing fingers and not enough looking for solutions?
She also said the Evil likes the dark because it likes to hide. That's something to think about.

  5. Sorry it has taken me so long! I've been so busy lately. Loved the book! I'm not sure how well I remember it now but here goes. I was glad we could finish it - it was getting hard to put it down. It seemed to have many lessons in it. Like Rosena I liked how Grandma said we shouldn't dwell on who was the cause of the problem, but how to fix the problem. It's so hard to let things go sometimes, but what's done is done and there is nothing we can do to change it, but move on and make the best of it. I also liked how she said Evil likes to hide. Kind of creepy if you ask me. Needless to say the light is on here! :) Anyone see the movie with the scary toothfairy? One of Christy Larson's favorites (if you know who she is) - she had to walk home with a flashlight over her head - so funny. Anyway... it seems to me there was a lot to learn for all the characters. I have a feeling living on the reserve you'd have to constantly be learning new things and how to deal with new situations. There seems to be a lot of secrets to unlock. Like everyone else I am curious to see what happens with Kendra and her new special gift. I also want to know why she was given the gift to see everything. What do to fairies have in mind?
I was disappointed about Lena, she was probably my favorite character. I'm hoping she comes back. It makes this story more interesting and maybe brings a future story for us to read!
I felt bad for Kendra when she had to run off on her own and try to save everyone. How alone she must of felt and what a weight on her shoulders, knowing she was the only one who could save them. It makes me appreciate the comforts of my home and not having to make life and death decisions! Reading about them is much better! I'm glad she was able to be so brave.
I can't wait for the next adventure - I will definately continue this series!
