  1. Boy this one really picks up. I think I say that with each book, but they just keep getting more intense.
I have a bad feeling about Graulas. I don't like that he is wanting Seth to heal him with the Sands of sanctity.

I am glad to see Warren back, but I am surprised that it was just that easy. I sure hope that he won't be a surprise traitor! What do you guys think is Vanessa's secret? I was thinking that she knows of a spy working for the knights, that is spying on the Sphinx, pretending to be working with him. The same guy who gave Kendra the knapsack. I've toyed around with the idea of it being Patton. It is possible. He expressed he wanted to do more for them. Maybe after he found out that the Sphinx probably has the immortal artifact he decided to find a way to become immortal himself and become a spy and pretend to be an ally to the Sphinx. It sounds pretty far fetched, but just about anything is possible with this book!

The Dream Stone was creepy was creepy for me. The tunnels remind me of the types of nightmares I would have. It would be very unsettling to try to find your way through those tunnels.

Do you guys think Patton is right about Seth being able to get the Oculus and escape from the Sphinx?
    It would be pretty funny.

  2. I am so excited that I have finally got a copy of the book. I was amazed at how fast it took off. I guess a lot has to happen in a short time. He sure doesn’t let anyone catch their breath. More deceivers right away. I was glad he wrote in
Vincent in so that he could let someone get killed without it being any of the ones we have come to like so well. Of course that doesn’t mean some will go before the book is out. I was nice that it didn’t happen right away. I am still getting over Gavin. I really liked the relationship between Camira and her brother though and was sorry to see her go so seen.

I was looking forward to some answers but so far I just have more questions. I was convinced that Lich was the one who was working against the Sphinx. He was the only one I could think of. After the incidences at Obsidian Waste he doesn’t seem much like someone working against the Sphinx. Back to square one. Lana could be right that it is Patten but I don’t think he has found a way to be immortal. In his time though he still has the Chronometer and could be using time travel to come and go to accomplish things to help them.

Graulas is sure getting grosser and apparently stinkier too. I thought he said that the Sands of Sanctity would not stop him from dying but just take away the pain. Is he trying to use Seth to get life back?

I would have given up in the Dream stone. What a nightmare even without the zombies. It shows that they really need all of them to combine talents to get through. How did Patten to so much alone? As time does by they seem to be learning and using their talents better. All of them.

I was intrigued too by Patten saying that Seth may just show up with the Occulus in his hip pocket. I was pleased that the Sphinx let him out of the bottle. I wonder if the Sphinx will be a little like Gavin. He is so sure of his powers that he will be careless and allow Seth a way to escape. I think he underestimates Seth. Everyone does. I’m rooting for Seth. I hope he can escape on his own, you know he will be working at it. Another though I had was that I wonder if Seth will find a way to fooling Sphinx into missing his weekly dose that keeps him from turning to dust. I don’t think it was smart of him to tell Seth as much as he did but I am glad he did. If for no other reason I was glad to hear it for my information

  3. I liked hearing the Sphinx's story. All though he has been pretty rotten, it helps you to see how people like him are human and how they put themselves into a position of fooling themselves with false rationalizations. When it comes down to it, it seems like pride is always the culprit.

  4. I'm so sad this is the last book. Oh, well. So far it's really enjoyable. I can't believe so much has happened in just the first 7 chapters. I think this book will be packed with adventure!

I agree with Lana and Rosena about the Dreamstone. Not a fun place to be! Not cool for Vincent to be the one to drown after he says drowning is his greatest fear. Poor Vincent! I'm glad that some of them were able to escape with the translocator. I was a little worried about Seth when he got shot with the arrow and decided to become a gas. I thought he was a gonner! I'm glad they were able to rescue Warren so quickly too. I thought it was funny how the Bubda was so anxious to be rid of him. Warren seemed a little hurt by it. So funny.

It was very cool to learn the Sphinx's story and how he came to be. I really think he has too much faith and confidence in himself. I think he gave Seth the tools to defeat him. Crossing my fingers!!

It was also cool to have Patton back in the story. I love his eagerness to help out . I think we will still hear more from him.

So many questions still, but I guess they will probably all be answered soon!

  5. The Sphinx is interesting. He was a slave and has risen to power. He thinks he will use it well and yet he is already using it poorly. It doesn't matter if others get hurt to serve his purposes. That will never change. Power does that to most people.

  6. I am finally starting to enjoy Seth now (I loved how he wished he kept the zombie hand--yuck!) However, I too am worried about Graulus's request. Graulus even stated that he is pure evil. He never has nor ever will do anything "good." His help has all been out of self interest. He doesn't care about Seth. I am afraid that Granlus knows more about what is going on (about the demon prison being opened) then Seth realizes...

I am surprised to admit that I have some pity for the Sphynix, but not enough to think he is a good guy. The Sphynix has good intentions--somewhat--but his thinking is all wrong. First of all he is too confident in himself in thinking that he is the only one who would be successful as a ruler over all in the world; being able to force light and dark to be on equal grounds. As we learn from the Sphynix's story, we see that he does not like anyone to be in bondage, as he once was. He feels all should be free, including the demons. But if he follows through with his goal of ruling over the light and dark, he would become a "master" who is forcing everyone to do his will--treating them as slaves. This is contrary to his intentions.

He is a man who has become blinded to the truth (probably with the help of Luna Nina who I am sure has her own intentions that are contradictory to the Sphynix's). The Sphynix is a very powerful and knowledgeable man. It is sad to see that he has become so blind by years of seeking revenge. It goes to show that revenge is not the answer...

  7. Talking about the Sphynix reminds me of how we some times can become so stubborn upon an idea or action that we "know" is right;and the more that we ensure ourselves that it is right, the more that our ears become deaf to others and we become blind to what is true or right. Thus others can sometimes get hurt...

The book sure gives you a lot to think about.

  8. Emily, love you comment about stubborness. So true. Even when we realize we may be wrong sometimes it is hard to admit it.

  9. Yes, and sometimes (like the Sphinx) we can focus so much on one thing that we become blind to the value of the whole picture. It reminds me of a story about a pilot that saw that the light (indicating that the landing gear was in ready position) wasn't on. He was so focused on trying to see what the problem was that he didn't realize that he was gradually descending and ended up crashing and killing more than 100 people.
